Second Amendment News
As Michelle Malkin pointed out back in March, SCOTUS has heard one of the largest cases in terms of precendent that they have looked at in a long time. To put a little backstory on the case, lets quote a bit from Wikipedia:
District of Columbia v. Heller, No. 07-290, is a case pending before the Supreme Court of the United States. It is an appeal from Parker v. District of Columbia, 478 F.3d 370 (D.C. Cir. 2007), a decision in which the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit became the first federal appeals court in the United States to rule that a firearm ban was an unconstitutional infringement of the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution, and the second to expressly interpret the Second Amendment as protecting an individual right to possess firearms for private use.
The Supreme Court however has limited somewhat the scope of the case to the following:
The petition for a writ of certiorari is granted limited to the following question: Whether the following provisions, D.C. Code §§ 7-2502.02(a)(4), 22-4504(a), and 7-2507.02, violate the Second Amendment rights of individuals who are not affiliated with any state-regulated militia, but who wish to keep handguns and other firearms for private use in their homes?
While this decision will only directly affect the DC case, SCOTUS’ decision here will set a very strong precedent for other possible cases to follow. For the full backstory of the case, I’d suggest reading the Wikipedia article.
Life on Mars
Life on Mars is an American version of the BBC series of the same name. It was picked up by ABC on May 13, 2008 and is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television and ABC Studios.
This one on the other hand I didn’t particularly care for. It tells the story of Detective Sam Tyler of the LAPD (played by Jason O’Mara), who, after being hit by a car in 2008, finds himself in the year 1972. Overall I think the acting was done well, but I wish it had more of a sci-fi feel to it then it had.

True Blood
True Blood is an American television series based on the Southern Vampire Mysteries books by Charlaine Harris and adapted for television by Alan Ball. The series is produced by HBO in association with Ball’s own production company, Your Face Goes Here Entertainment.
From first impression, I think this will be a good series. On one hand, it is on HBO, so do expect some titties flapping around sometimes (case in point: the pilot), but it doesn’t ditract from the story at all. Staring Anna Paquin as Sookie Stackhouse, it tells the story of a telepathic girl who falls for a vampire.
On a side note, if I’m going to keep writing reviews like this I’ll need to come up with a rating system.

IPv6 Enabled
Since it’s bound to happen sooner or later, and it’s been enabled on the server for quite a while, I’ve dedcided to add a AAAA record for the server. What this means for those of you with IPv6-enabled ISPs can reach the site (albeit through a tunnel) just as well as the IPv4 people can.
For those wondering, the IP is: 2001:4830:1200:1d::2
Post Turtle
While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old Texas rancher, whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man.
Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his bid to be our President.
The old rancher said, ‘Well, ya know, ‘Obama is a ‘post turtle’.
Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what’s a ‘post turtle’?
The old rancher says, ‘When you’re driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top ,feet a’flailing in the air, that’s a ‘post turtle’.
‘You know he didn’t get up there by himself, he doesn’t belong up there, he doesn’t know what to do while he is up there, and you just wonder what kind of a dumb ass put him up there.’
The Happening
Well I happened to have the chance to review a copy of M. Night’s latest flick “The Happening” and I must say . . . Damn glad I didn’t go to the theaters. For once I’ll agree with the majority opinion in that the movie was lacking in about every detail up to and including, well everything.
Although I’m sure my opinion doesn’t count for much, trust me when I say this: “Save your money.”

Wanted
For those of you keeping track during this slow movie period, I just got a handy dandy e-mail saying a new trailer for Wanted is out. Unfortunately though, it’s through iTunes only. So for those of you who have the devil software installed, enjoy.
City of Ember
It’s 10 O’Clock, do you know where your children are?
Well it’s been a long stretch without a post so I figured I’d put out even a simple, we’re still alive post. Not much has been hapening here at the Citadel. In the Political front, I praticipated in the Students for Concealed Carry Empty Holster Protest. Had a couple requests for an interview, but not being able to get a hold of the Campus rep for SCC, I was unable to take them up on that offer. Hopefully in the future I will be able to accept.
